    Hello!

I have been practicing the Chi gong through the 6 step course, the Awaken program, and the free course. I am amazed at how different I feel! My energy has become so consistent, and I have noticed a relaxation in my muscles that I have never felt before.

I am curious if it is necessary over the long-term practice to hold the postures longer? IF not, are there other modifications to the system as the practitioner becomes more “seasoned”? Also, are there any issues with combining the two programs?

    Thanks for all you do!

    Hello,

Thank you for your question. It is also heartening for the team when we hear of the someone benefitting from the courses. It sounds like you’re doing the right things.

The difficulty that many people have with qi gong is local tension generating local qi. A small amount of qi is generated from the muscles themselves when tensing, and that local qi can block the development of bigger flows of qi from central reserves. To bypass that effect, one can use the active passive method outlined in 6 Easy or move very slowly. Very slowly tends to be less successful if a person is carrying a lot of mental tension or mental blocks, so I avoid it in instruction. Once a person is getting good flow, it is normal to increase hold times to build flow strength. You sound like you’re getting good flows, so if you’re comfotable with it, then increase your intervals, but with an eye toward avoiding tension in the body.

There are no issues with combining the programs as they are meant to be complementary.

    Thank you, JY!
